Get it on

Καλημέρα Ελλάδα (Good Morning Greece),

So the Euro-adventure begins. I’ve arrived and settled into Greece – away from the cold of Melbourne and into 30-40 degree heat.

Surprisingly, the 26 hour journey went by pretty quickly. I travel pretty well, but inevitably at some point in the trip I just get headachy and just generally annoyed.

On this plane trip though I met afew people, bumped into a friend unexpectedly, watched afew movies, and even got philosophical with the meaning of life while listening to Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon from 38,000 feet high.

So I arrived in the evening  and what’s the first thing on one’s mind after a 26 hour journey (besides needing a shower)? Partying! Yep, came back to the house, showered, changed, got ready and went out with my cousin and a friend of his. Something I’ve noticed a fair bit overseas, not just here in Greece but places like USA, people go out later in the night. Whereas places in Australia open 9:00 (for a standard club), people would arrive 9:30-10:30. Here (and elsewhere) often times you won’t see a single soul in the place until about 11:30 (at the earliest).. I guess it might also depend which bar/club you go to. But still on the whole I reckon people in Aus go out earlier than others in the world.

It’s great having that conversation with people telling them that I’m just over from Australia (just casually).. Enjoying being the novelty foreigner again.

Anyways, just a quick note to tell you I’m not dead, I’m ok, and in a couple days (after some beach parties and checking out afew other hot spots) I’ll be off to wreak havoc in Budapest with a whole new bunch of crazies.

FYI - Planned Itinerary:
4 July - Budapest
9 July - Vienna
14 July - Prague
19 July - Cologne
22 July - Amsterdam
29 July – Athens
20 August - Lund
21 January - Melbourne
